Our triple-effect (or combined) suction cup is made up of a body inside which there is a floating ball and a floating disc with two O-rings. The movement of the ball and disc with vertical guidance allows the opening and closing of the holes made in an intermediate disc placed between the body and the cover. The O-rings of the floating disc are placed concentrically to guarantee a perfect seal around the intermediate disc. A protective cap prevents impurities from entering through the holes while preventing damage caused by high-velocity air escaping. A drain cock placed in the central point of the lid allows the correct operation of the suction cup to be verified at all times.
During the pipe filling phase, air can escape at a high flow rate with minimal pressure. When the water reaches the ball, it moves by pushing the floating disc that plugs the large air outlet holes in the intermediate disc, then it will switch to the on-load purge function. In the emptying phase the pressure will tend to become negative, lowering the disc and thus allowing the entry of air in large quantities.
It has three functions: firstly it extracts air from the pipe while it is filled with fluid, secondly it continuously automatically maintains the purging function on any air pocket that could reach the suction cup, which is achieved when the ball float lowers and separates from the drain cock and finally, it prevents the crushing that can occur due to depression, since if it occurs, the float will fall, separating itself from the intermediate disc, opening the seal and allowing outside air to enter the pipe to establish the pressure inside.
The suction cup is located at the exit of pipes whose slope varies with the hydraulic level, at points where the pipe rises above ground level, in branches with uniform slope, at the entrance of measuring instruments, at the exit of valves reducers, diameter reductions, pumps and filtering systems. It will always be placed in a vertical position for correct operation and for maintenance and cleaning it is recommended to place a shut-off valve so as not to stop the installation.
Most common applications: drinking water supplies, fire fighting networks, irrigation networks.
The threaded end of the suction cup body is in accordance with DIN 259 / ISO 228-1 standards (BSP / Gas thread)
