Our lug-type gate valve is designed for isolation in systems with high levels of suspended solids and is ideal for sludge treatment, heavy oils, non-flammable liquids, water treatment, chemical plants, mining, and cement plants. It has very low pressure drop when fully open, is easy to operate, and is relatively lightweight. The valve is designed to open and close slowly to prevent water hammer. As a lug-type valve, it features all the necessary holes and threads corresponding to the flange; this feature allows it to be installed as a pipe end cap on a single flange. It is essentially an external spindle valve operated by an upward-moving threaded spindle connected to a stainless steel gate or guillotine that rises and falls as the valve is operated, which provides a visual indication of the valve’s position and allows the spindle to be lubricated. A fixed stem nut, located at the top of the yoke, allows the assembly (gate and stem) to move up and down simultaneously. The body is manufactured as a single cast block with internal guides to guide the gate, preventing the accumulation of solids at the seal. The valve is used only for applications that require a fully open or fully closed position; otherwise, vibrations may occur, gradually eroding the disc and the seat. Our valve provides high flow rates with low pressure drops; it features wedges to help the disc seal against the body and seat, and the disc has rounded edges that protect the seat seal and the packing. Multiple options and design combinations regarding the valve type (bidirectional, unidirectional…), the actuation type (handwheel, lever, electric or pneumatic actuator , pneumatic, etc.), the body material (GG25, GGG40, GGG50, CF8M, etc.), the disc material (AISI 304L stainless steel, AISI 316L…), the material of the packing (Synt+PTFE+NBR, Synt+PTFE+EPDM, graphite…), and the material of the seat (metal-to-metal, EPDM, NBR, FKM (Viton®), silicone…).
